I'll make it possible in next versions to bypass using texture buffers if I can't find a solution to the crash.

v 0.1

Toggled random starting weapon off by default and added weapons to map items and to the test map. Shield now blocks damage from spinning blades and auto change weapon on pickup works. Download & github & official server up to date. smile

Also added one new hat, looks kinda familiar:

New bodies / heads / animations can only be done in Spine (http://esotericsoftware.com/), but hats / hairs & eyes can be simply dropped to data/topper & data/eyes. Works like skins in Teeworlds.

No hooks? This makes the game play so much slower, therefore not so attractive for me. This is the biggest deciding factor for sure.
The sword modification is nice. My guess is that it has bigger range than hammer, is that right?
I like the wall climbing + slope mechanics.

Yeah, no hook. I tried hook with current gameplay mechanics, but it didn't fit that well. So instead of hook there's turbo, iron man style hand boost.

Yeah, the sword has long range. I'll add hammer later on, but it will serve a bit different purpose. I'm not 100% happy with movement yet, so there will be some improvements.


New update:

  • TDM supported

  • Changed some key bind names and removed old settings (setting file removal or default key bindings recommended)

  • Minor bug fixes

  • New set of eyes

  • testdm map is now dm1

Why didn't it fit that well exactly? I don't think there's anything to fit--only enhancement by adding hook.

Hook is what makes Teeworlds such a great game. But it doesn't fit in well with wall climbing, wall jumps and jetpack. Those features are useless with hook, and I don't want this to be Teeworlds with a couple of extra features.

So the real answer is... I didn't want hook, as it is in Teeworlds.

edit: played it for 15 minutes, it's quite fun. Plays a bit like Cobalt!

Item pick text has been replaced with visual effect. There's also key bind (default q) for selecting the picked weapon.

Dm2 included, health powerup replaced with infinite boost powerup, more hats & hairs, other small changes.

Requires server updates. Download and git up to date.

I honestly thought that the bots were awesome. I did not even know they were bots for some time. I thought you invited more friends to play when you showed me this mod.

Confused at start but funny when know how play xD
Can be good get some info about the powerup that you get
Remove .dll in linux package
The bots are awesome! perhaps some details can be improved but in general... very good.

Recently I've been thinking about making a TeeWorlds mod adopted to touchscreen (or 'borrowing' Liero code, I'm not picky), and this mod is just the thing I need.

Siile, what direction do you want to move with this mod? How are you imagining the gameplay?

I would like two things for making the game more mobile-friendly: 1.5x slower game speed, and fixed-angle aiming, limited to 12 or 16 angles - this will make controls arcade-like, where you don't aim so much, but instead you move and jump to align your aim with the opponent, and then shoot at the right moment.

Removing ninja rope makes it so much easier to design touchscreen controls. It's impossible to design comfortable controls when ninja rope is a core feature of gameplay - you can either shoot, or fling ninja rope, but not both.

Two joysticks is all I need. No extra buttons whatsoever.

Left joystick - swipe left/right to move, swipe up/down to stop moving, and tap to jump. There will be a separate jump button at the right side, just to make controls easier to learn.

As for the jetpack - it will burn half of your fuel if you tap Jump mid-air, then burn another half if you tap Jump again.

Right joystick - attack, obviously smile I want to make it more comfortable than in TeeWorlds Android port - slide finger to shoot, instead of fixed joystick, this makes it easier to aim precisely before firing the first shot.

I'm not a fan of a single weapon switch button, I'll just put every weapon you have to the top of the screen, into a separate button - you cannot have more than 10 of them anyway. Also, weapons will auto-switch when out of ammo, I think this will make the game more comfortable to play even on PC.

The problem with that is when you take the ammo crate, it will only fill the ammo of your current weapon. It would be nice to replenish ammo of all weapons instead, either the equal amount for each weapon you have, or load your active weapon first, then all other weapons you have.

-new animations & core movement mechanics
-new ui
-box2d / other physics engine for better splatter & corpse physics
-modular map generation
-generated missions / quests for 1-4 players & clans
