Topic: Teeworlds Online [MMORPG]

Hi,

I already mailed Magnus for this, but he did not send me back.
Teeworlds is a nice game, its addicting and fun. Everyone on the forum will agree. But it's limited to a few players on one server. Sometimes it gets boring because you played 200 rounds with the same people.
I have a vision:
A Teeworlds MMORPG (Teeworlds Online).
As a game developer for all major platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac OSX, Android and iOS) and experience in writing mmo servers (WoW Emu Dev) i know how to make such a game.
There was a post on the forum where someone said that a MMO is not possible with the Teeworlds engine (or at least need to much modifications). I totally agree with that. Therefore my idea is to write a completely new game with the look and feel from the original teeworlds.
To call the game Teeworlds Online i need the permission from Magnus to use it. As i said at the beginning, i already send him an email but he didn't respond.
Please help me to get his permission to do so.

Thank you :)

Re: Teeworlds Online [MMORPG]

I don't think he intends to code it as a modification in Teeworlds.

As for the licence concerns:

1. The origin of this software must not be misrepresented; you must not
claim that you wrote the original software. If you use this software
in a product, an acknowledgment in the product documentation would be
  appreciated but is not required.
2. Altered source versions must be plainly marked as such, and must not be
misrepresented as being the original software.
3. This notice may not be removed or altered from any source distribution.

So you do not need anyone's approval, even though it's nice of you to post here.

Thats related to the source and not the game name, isn't it? I don't use any of the original source except the assets but they are licensed with CC-BY-SA 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/)
It's all about the name. Not the source nor the assets.

Re: Teeworlds Online [MMORPG]

Why would you turn a 2d retro shooter without any roles into a mmorpg?
I don't like this mmorpg hype (and I thought it already passed by) oO

I wanted to write a new mobile game. I know there is a teeworlds app for android, but thats not the kind of game you play only a few minutes a session. I wanted to write something that people play only a short time but more oftem with some kind of long term goals but with some kind of multiplayer.

You cant do something like a shooter because of the previous reasons. But a MMORPG have long term goals and you can put it away anytime you want.

Re: Teeworlds Online [MMORPG]

Is this not what the CITY and WORLD mods essentially are to a certain degree?

That's correct, but city mods are more like idle games.
