Well I think the problem is that the original newsletter got merged with another Arch based community magazine and so I lost contact to the new authors, and I am not sure if they do game reviews any more. Ill investigate that soon though.
Thank you for implementing this mod. I think by further implementing this idea and code it could be a great addition to a future release.
@Z
It allows an admin to give gameop privileges to people he trusts, so it makes easier the administering of a game, because 1 admin cannot be always on the server to administer, but giving the rcon password to other people is dangerous.
First off: I dont think that a Captain game needs a seperate gamemod. It reminds me of the race - when people came up with the idea of races it was just a simple ctf game with 1 score, and it was GOOD. Now that there exist 33 race mods with 72 entities and switches and teleports and all this blatant crap, races are BAD. So far, captain games are good, do not make them CRAP!
It would be much more easier to administer servers ( and organize captain games/clanwars ) with game-moderator accounts ! See this post and the post after it http://www.teeworlds.com/forum/viewtopi … 444#p49444
This map is really ugly and bad. Maybe what Azon said is true, but there should be some minimal level of quality - not placing weapons next to each other, not making spawn points on the ground and too high, not having 7 spawns in the same place, not having a zillion of hearts next to each other, and most importantly fluent movement possibility. I think this map fails at all aspects of mapping, and if you can't take criticism then dont post.
Maybe use the report function next time. Oh and colorful fu.
I dont understand why you make such a big problem of this BS. Why dont you STFU and let the admins do their work. Every time you provocate an admin to reply to your bumped nonsense topics you steal their time, which they could spend more effectively. This is not so goddamn serious to cry about it in every second thread. Cant you ignore gay servers ? FFS.

I often see servers with 15/16 players, but no one is online.
Is there a way to report these servers?
I think you should use the refresh button, this happens to me too, because the server browser is not refreshed on every gui interaction.
This is related to the internet, not to the game. Althrought I understand you, I dont't think anything can be done. Except own the cybergays so much that they leave.

2. Yes its weird that the big nothingness stops you. Either put a wall there or make it like ctf5 - you can fall down
3. Settings - Graphics - high detail on/off -> try it out on ctf2 for example. I always play with high detail off because the stars in ctf2, and most of the doodads disturb me. And I think that all mappers should respect those settings, not because I like it that way, but because the official maps are made this way.
I said what i said - i _think_
Most DM maps are closed so that your opponent doesnt have a too big chance to run away
It looks good except theese
- too many doodads
- its weird that you cant fall down from left and right side ( non hookable tiles wall )
- everything is visible even with high detail off ( BIG NO-NO )
And I dont think big and open maps like this one are good for DM. Btw nice work.
Well if you want to be _SO_ serious, I will tell you that Kairo is located in Africa, and those pyramids are in mayan style. Also when those pyramids were posted as doodads, Landil - who is officially a tileset expert, told that the perspective and outlines are unusual for the game and do not fit its theme. Plus let me go back into mega serious - what is water falling down from a platform ? Its true I have never been to Kairo, but if they have mad stuff like that im off to lastminute.
Oh wait I almost forgot - the pyramid which weight some gigatons is built over a big HOLE - now thats a cause for me. Hell yeah.
Dont get me wrong - I do not really care what your maps look like, and how much sense they make. Just don't tell me what I should do.
/~\ (_C_) THIS IS CAIRO !!! Not Madness. Not at ALL.
/ \ |~| Piramyds, Clouds, and Wasserfalls
/ P \ |W|
/ \ |~|I hope someone will host this great map permanently, because I'm tired of playing ctf2 every day.
From an observing point of view, the background (pyramid) doesn't make any sense.
I myself could code this ( except the design part ), atleast in the way I imagine it. It would be just a simple 'text filter'. For example in the template is a field for map name. You enter 'ctf_awesome' and I generate this text:
'ctf_awesome' -> 'Name: ctf_awesome' which is then passed to the ordinary 'make a new thread function'. We just need someon come up with a clear and friendly design, a list of things that must be present for a map, and optional fields maybe.
The whole code would be just a single function in php, which you could stick in the appropriate place, I believe it's not hard to integrate that.
I suggest theese for now:
Map name:
Size: either a number like 100x45 or just small, medium, big
Tileset: name of tilesets used
Version: with preselected value of the most current version
Gametype:
Players: number or players the map is made for
Description: anything and everything you wish to say about your map.

Here is a working demo http://rapidshare.com/files/273827260/map.html ( choose Open instead of save ). The code is javascript and the design and layout are just dummy, until someone decides to help me with theese.
My idea is that someone could make a custom page for posting maps - something like templates in the teewiki. Then the map maker would only need to fill in a form, with the name, gametype and all necessary information, provide screenshots and atleast 2 different download links. That way people posting maps would not need to worry whether they left out something which is needed. The maps topic wouldnt make making new threads possible except by this method. All maps posted would look the same neat and organized way, no more chaos. The custom coding itself is a really little part, it is just a wrapper for the make new topic function. It receives the data from a form and makes formatting and thumbinals if needed. There are many people on this forums who make their sites and a small task like that would be really easy for them.

Even if you lived in New Zealand this question would still make no sense, and bitching at others doesnt help you, so I suggest you STFU.
Even if that was where the 'exploit' was uploaded I doubt that the funwar admins could do anything about it. Its your server and from what I understood the 'security hole' was lack of proper configuration. Moreover funwar used a CMS they didnt develop themselves, so if they didn't mess up anything when installing that CMS, they have nothing to do with it. And when giving away hosting on your servers you should know that your server is just as secure as the weakest subdomain you are hosting. And since almost anyone could get a domain, i can easily imagine the so called 'hacker' requested and received one, then uploaded a php-shell or other malicious code.
Well now that you asked I vote for a fat no.
Dont post illegal stuff please. Use dummy ( free ) sounds instead or grab a mic. Im not against the project, just dont post links to illegal material !!
Btw making an icon appear above the head of the player is very easy to do - with emoticons. The default set has 4 unused images where you can add icons, then when something happens ( hitting in a row with laser ) the server forces the player to do the appropriate emote; ofcourse it also needs a server side protection which denies players from making those special emotes with binds. I hope im clear oO.
I think instead of copying ideas from other games we should think about what makes teeworlds unique, and make up sounds/icons for theese ones. I also would like not to have a dozen, just really a small set of theese things. What comes to my mind is:
- fastest capture during a ctf game, could be a wing icon ( or something resembling speed )
- hitting multiple times in a row with the laser could be some sound message like "Sharpshooter"
But not that GIGA-KILL stuff. And besides that killing 6/10 people in a ctf ( i think that applies to all game types ) match is quite rare, i would say tw is a "kill, die, respawn" game, not a "one man army" game.
There is a bug in the teeworlds source, and some people are using this bug to crash servers. What you can do is make a logfile, and pick the ip that belongs to the player crashing your server and ban that ip. You can also try to patch your server as there are some unofficial patches around the forums ( search for them ).
What a piece of worthless crap.
