It is a good thing there are constructive discussions regarding the gameplay but I dont like the way you do it. There are so many opinions as there are players, so why dont you just

- fork teeworlds
- code the feature you want ( reduced laser bounce-damage )
- host it
- play it

and then realize the bounce should not be removed. Further discussion won't lead to any usable output. I mostly agree with the answer of Magnet on the qi forums. And arguing that the bounce makes the game random, and all this crap about competitive gameplay are stupid. All games have some uncompetitive stuff or luck factors ( which laser bounce isn't !!! ). If you want competitive gameplay play with hammer only, because all weapons can be used to make "luck shots".

So to sum it up for you, I think the reduced damage is a good idea, removing the laser, increasing damage and reload are NOT, replying to this thread without adding something to the discussion is NOT a good idea.

Congratulations. smile Finally a video that shows the fun side of teeworlds. Good job.

It is good to hear that there are people who are willing to help this game going. I would be glad to hear what plans have the new staff members have in connection with this site, and in overall.

To all others, the best you can do with helping the community is that everytime you write a post, don't submit it immediately, just write it down, switch to some other tab, do something for 5 minutes, then come back, read what you wrote, and then decide if you really want to post that. This helped me a lot, maybe it will help you too, so you can contribute to keeping the forum quality above a certain level.

It looks nice. Would need some testing of gameplay. Good job.

Wow, Slovakia beat Italy today, im so proud !!! Italy played quite disgusting, attacking our goalkeeper 3 times, and playing drama queens, but it doesnt matter, because Slovakia beat their macaroni ass. smile))

It is obviously not true.

Im using the open source driver with my "Radeon Xpress 200M" and the game runs fine, when emulated with wine. Just download the windows build and "wine teeworlds.exe" This is not guaranteed to fix your problem, but it worked for me.

I second chi, but the only thing which looks promising is the ability to scale the size of the items on the HUD. I havent tried the client so I don't know to which extent is this implemented, but I was always looking for this functionality in the vanilla client.

On the problematics of vuvuzelas: maybe you can filter them out, but the players and the crowd who are not used to it are suffering from it. It has been proved that their sound is above 130dB which is harmful for the human ears.

Go Paraguay !!!

I also hate that noise those people make with their vuvuzelas. Its distracting, not only for the audience, but for the players themselves. There is no connection between the players and the crowd, like in normal matches - big applause and screaming when goal or nice shot; now its just that annoying and monotonous vuvuzela.

I look forward to all matches of Argentina because maradona is so charismatic I prefer to watch him as a coach, then to watch his players, I wish good luck to Netherlands, and I hope Germany will lose asap ( althrough they played nice ), and I hope to see many nice goals.

Though it does seem like an injustice to kick people without (to them) a reason, there isn't a good solution if people want to keep on plaything this "gametype" for now. Possibly when there is an account system in place, the sever could read your "skill level" if the makers implement one and then based on that, it could let some people in or not. But that idea is based on two if-ys...
One: a skill estemating system, and two: a modification to make a filtering system.
I'm just putting it out there. wink

There is no need for that. Tewworlds follows the KISS principle, and the current scheme works good  Your idea is flawed mostly because if you dont let weaker players play against/with good players they will never have the chance to learn something from better players, which is an important factor for becoming a better player. The way it is now, if you are not a total douchebag, you have the opportunity to play against good players, which is fair enough.

I found a bug in teeworlds-r2368-win32

When i press the chat or teamchat keys my character will shoot once. This happens only if i did shoot since my previous respawn.

Linux pinky 2.6.33-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu May 13 12:06:25 CEST 2010 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

wine-1.1.44

Here is my settings.cfg

I dont know whether I have this bug in this revision only, or whether its because i emulate the windows version under linux.

It is long enough just no one has the time and guts to go through the list and say that 99,99% of your suggestions will NEVER EVER be implemented.

Counting frags in videos is getting old, and the video is bad overall.

Making this public is stupid anyway; you see that it is fixed, and if you want to protect your server you can apply the patch manually. You cannot affect how often developers make new releases, and I wouldnt consider a DOS attack in a game server critical.

I dont like your video because:

- You move the camera too much, its disturbing to watch, especially the zoom-in effects
- Most of the kills are simple rocket spam
- Screenshots popping up for a tenth of second - useless, cant see anytihng, and they dont belong to a video
- All of the kills are made with the rocket launcher

@Apha-Nuva: if you have nothing constructive to say, shut the fuck up

Sure I can explain. Someone has an idea for a mod, and starts to make big hype on the forums before actually writing any code. Then he jumps into coding without actually understanding how the teeworlds codebase is structured, and how it is built up. Afer some hours of frustration, and after seeing that lots of people are asking for the mod,  the creator decides to silently leave teeworlds and delete his "work", just to return some days later with a different nick and start the hype over again. I hope that helped you out.

The real problem is that the forums shorten the long url by adding ... to the link, so if you copy paste the link it looks like this:

wget http://www.teeworlds.com/files/teeworld … x86.tar.gz

When posting commands or code use the code tags, to prevent such problems. Anyway the guy asked for an rpm package not for a way to download and install the game in 1 command. I'm sure he could do that by navigating to the downloads section and downloading and installing the game manually. Anyway a quick google search came up with this. ( notice the sweet ... hiding in the link, how cute )

This isn't related to teeworlds, but to modders who abuse the broadcast messages. Its their fault, and we dont care.

I dont think this game is playable on a high level with anything else but a mouse. Of course this doesnt say anything about porting, but imho its pointless to port such a game to game consoles and iCrap because it will fail at playability. And I dont like the idea of dinosmash because dinos didnt have thumbs, and you need thumbs to use a shotgun, so its totally pointless.

Thats right the project is discontinued, but you are free to re-implement the idea if you like it. Im happy I made u happy LOL.

Why not use winamp or any other software which is MEANT for playing music. I know this is not the solution to your problem but if you want to listen to music while playing ... do it the right way.

This thread is quite pointless, only thing you will achieve is to get enemies, even if you think what you are trying to do helps teeworlds. The solution to all those problems of cheating, funvoting, w/e is to play on moderated servers with trusted people. Thats my opinion and it always worked for me.

About BassGo - I also played against him a few times and I'm on the same opinion - YOU are a gay cheater, nobody cares when you started playing and all that shit you wrote, you suck, thats why u bot. Better watch out coz that may just happen to you
