Thanks for this, seems you covered everything. I edited the article a bit to fix some errors.

As mentioned by shmafoozius, this isn't possible. We can't change anything in the tiles at gametime so the red and blue flags can't be embedded. There's nothing we can do about the custom game.png problem except remove the white flag completely but that would just create confusion about where the spots are.

it's a nice mod, in my opinion one of the best mods for teeworlds (if not the best), because it really fits into gameplay.

one suggestion. is it possible that not only the team which has countered a flag gets points each second (if the intervall is seconds), but also the player which countered the flag? then it would be possible to see the better players in the scoreboard, not only those who kill the most.

but anyway, without that it is already fun to play and i hope there will be more maps soon.

Thanks for the kind words about the mod. Your suggestion is kind of already implemented. Players get a fixed number of points for every capture. This is a server config variable which is set to 3 points per capture by default. I think holding the flags should be a team effort which is why the team scoring accumulates over time while the player gets a certain number of points every time.

basically i meant that not only the team periodically gets points for holding a flag, but also the player who captured that flag. having thought about this, i think it's better as you implemented it, otherwise players would become selfish..

I made a little map about the maps for the maps. So u can see where the domination-spots are and where the enemy dominates a spot. Think its a good thing for the gameplay! smile Hope u like my maps. Have Fun!

Ok, i have a new idea. maybe its called "Team-Domination"?^^
other to domination:
    1. no time-scoring
    2. your team get points for killing other tees.
                If your team has 0 dom-spots: 0 points
                If your team has 1 dom-spots: 1 point
                If your team has 2 dom-spots: 2 points
                If your team has 3 dom-spots: 3 points
                If your team has 4 dom-spots: 4 points
                If your team has 5 dom-spots: 5 points
    3. if your team capture a dom-spot, the team get points
                If your team has 0 dom-spots: 0 points
                If your team has 1 dom-spots: 1 point
                If your team has 2 dom-spots: 2 points
                If your team has 3 dom-spots: 3 points
                If your team has 4 dom-spots: 4 points
    4. the captime gets lower if more people of your team are in the area of the spot too
                If 1 player of the team is capturing: 30 seconds
                If 2 player of the team are capturing: 25 seconds
                If 3 player of the team are capturing: 20 seconds
                If 4 player of the team are capturing: 15 seconds
                If 5 player of the team are capturing: 14 seconds
                If 6 player of the team are capturing: 13 seconds
                If 7 player of the team are capturing: 12 seconds
                If 8 player of the team are capturing: 11 seconds
     5. if a enemy is in the capturing area the captime gets higher, like -1 ppl of the
         other team
                For example: 3 player of the team are capturing: 20 seconds. Enemy in the
                area: ==> like 2 player: the capturing players needs 25 seconds to cap
     6. your team wins when you reach a scorelimit (like 300)
     7. a little window should be added to see which team is holding which dom-spot

I like your idea. I'll make sure this gets forward though I won't guarantee it'll be done. The scoring and captimes probably need some thinking over but overall it sounds good. As for number 7 on your list, I don't think that's possible without modding the client which is something we definitely won't do.

ok, number 7 would only be a great feature. maybe you can add a command like /domspots, the command shows all domspots and the teams who captured them in the chat as a list. and the command will be activated everytime a shrine is capped......

Domination-mod got updated to version 2.0.

The update is focused on a new gametype called "kill domination". Credits for the idea go to Zeratul, although it got implemented a bit different to keep it in a line with the other domination gametypes.

kill domination:
    * capturing and player scoring work as in domination
    * difference to domination:
        - team gets score for killing other tees
             team has 0 dom-spots: 0 points
             team has 1 dom-spots: 1 points
             team has 2 dom-spots: 2 points
             team has 3 dom-spots: 3 points
             team has 4 dom-spots: 4 points
             team has 5 dom-spots: 5 points
         - team gets score for capturing a dom-spot
             team has 0 dom-spots:  0 points
             team has 1 dom-spots:  5 points
             team has 2 dom-spots: 10 points
             team has 3 dom-spots: 15 points
             team has 4 dom-spots: 20 points

Furthermore some small things got fixed and an user command was added (like mentioned by Zeratul), which gives an overview of the ownership status for all domination spots.

 To use it, say: /domspots 

The patch, executables for 32 bit Windows and Linux and a readme can be downloaded here.

sv_dom_cappoints controls the number of points a player gets for capturing a spot. It only accepts one value.

to kill domination: what u made was my idea, but dont like the scoring.
because: i wanted that you have to kill, but if you get more points for capping domspots, who will kill?
think would be better:

We won't change the actual team scoring, cause it considers an adequate challenge. Doing it like you mentioned would make that feature kind a superflous.
If you would like to focus more on the killing aspect, there is the possibility to adjust the cap-timing to your needs (sv_dom_captimes).
