Topic: No Servers visible @ University

Hi

I'm sitting in the Uni right now, with my Lapptop and Windows Vista on it.
Wanted to play some Teewars online, but I can't see any Servers.

I'm using a VPN Client with a special Config from my University, to connect to their W-Lan.
If I use a Computer in the data center of the University, which is connected directly via Cable, it works.
But I can't see anything with my Laptop.

I tried to turn off all my Firewalls (Windows and Norton), but nothing helped.

Any ideas?

Sry for my bad English.

Re: No Servers visible @ University

Well I don't know if the University got any Firewalls running, but I deactivated all Firewalls on my Notebook.
Is it maybe some kind of Network issue with Windows Vista?
Don't know much about it hmm

Re: No Servers visible @ University

It's a safe assumption that a university WLAN has some kind of rudimentary firewall, and probably other safety measures aswell.

Tried it today with Mac OS X and VPN, but doesn't work either.
It seems like the VPN Client hates me or the Universitie's Wlan sucks sad

Re: No Servers visible @ University

theres a 100% chance of a Firewall between you and Teewars.

Re: No Servers visible @ University

I've heard of cases where contacting whoever is in charge of the university network and explaining the matter to them resulted in the appropriate port being unblocked.

Okay, I've heard of one case where that happened. But with a port as obscure as 8303, you could always come up with a touching story about a troubled childhood and an undocumented but pressing condition that makes it absolutely vital to partake in world saving distributed computing projects or something... big_smile

What person on a university wouldn´t understand the charm of teewars?
