Hi there,

I've done a MOD called FlagBall. There are two goals and the strategy for the teams is to score with a ball (blue flag). This can be done by either throwing the ball into the goal (currently 50 points for the team) or by directly jumping with your tee into the goal (100 points for the team and 5 points for the tee; the tee will die). The MOD is a bit inspired by the UT2004(R) Bombing-Run Mode.

* with the Shoot-Button (mouse1) the ball will be thrown in the pointing direction
* with the Hook-Button (mouse2) it's possible to do a "direct-pass" to another player
* includes a simple Instagib-MOD, too

Maybe you've already played this MOD on our server ([FlagBall-MOD][Instagib], only running in the evening), it's really funny :-)

As a first test I've modified the map "lost" to fit the needs of FlagBall. But we need a new, good map which is pretty self-explaining for new players of this MOD. Here YOU come into action (if you like to). Who is willing to create a nice map?

Requirements for the map:
* it should be clear which goal belongs to which team (there should be colored-areas (red/blue))
* the goals should be cognizable as goals (maybe like a basket)
* a goal is simply a "DM spawn point", there have to be two of them of course. But: red team has always the be on the left, blue team has to be on the right (this is currently a restriction)
* medium size map
* green and sunny background (like map "lost")
* medium difficulty - not too easy but not too hard

Nice to hear that you like it. The map "lost" is a nice map for CTF, but for the FlagBall-Mod it is not really suitable.

atm i´m working on a map it is based on the BR-bifrost map from UT 2004

when u need some sort of map try my Bombing map i got the idea from BR- Serenity also from UT u can find it here:

and for the mod can u add the normal weapons too

Thanks, it worked. It's a really nice map, but it's too easy to score a goal by jumping into it. Maybe I'll try to do a map on my own. Thanks anyway! (But I'm looking forward to your new map :-) )

So, finally I got my ass up and made a map by myself (fb_teamplay) :-) Enjoy playing FlagBall!

just focus on the mod i will do some maps with standard tilesets so the data size will be fiewer than my bifrost map because this mod must be finished only thing i never played it till yet xD


and maybe u can upload fb_teamplay??

But as you already mentioned the map is very norrow... maybe there is some rework needed.

just for ask did u use the same tiles for the goals as for a football map ??

and do u have dmg Tiles or jumping tiles added in ur mod??

No, I used the default tiles. The goal itself is a 3-way shadow of the game-tiles. and behind it is a quad, which has a simple color gradient (red/blue).

We still need some good maps. Currently we are using fb_teamplay and fb_lost in map rotation, but it would be nice to have some more. Who wants to build some?

The MOD is "finished" since a week, I only do bugfixing atm. So I have no problem with releasing my work.

Who would like to build binaries? I will just provide the patch-file.

The instagib mode can be configured in config file, thus you can play with normal weapons as well. I will attach a small README file which explains all config-values.

I tried the map, I like it. Could you please change these:
* Remove the second red-flag (game won't start with 3 flags)
* Make the buttom-goal tile not repeated into the ground (don't place it at the maps border to prevent this)
* Add each a DM-spawn-point into the goal (you may take a look at fb_teamplay.map)

I'm looking forward to your modification (and using it on our FlagBall server in map-rotation)!

This is the release of my MOD FlagBall 0.1.9 provided as a patch-file (diff-file). Some parts of the (modified) code looks a bit ugly, this may be fixed in future. The goals itself are simple DM-spawn-points in the map (not tiles like in Homing-MOD or Handball-MOD) for some reason.
