Re: [MOD] [0.6] TeeMuseum - Explore history of teeworlds

An absolutely magnificent project! I’m waiting for the Russian language!

As I recall, I first logged into the game around October 2008. I thought my first version of the game was 0.5.1, but it turns out it hadn’t been released yet. Now I have cognitive dissonance in my head.

The problem is that I installed the game from a shady site, and according to my theory I was playing on the z-team pack client in vanilla modes until it updated itself with an animated menu background, where a kolobok walked from left to right, and also with great background music that played constantly, even when you joined a server. Then I saw a bunch of new modes (besides vanilla), and for me it was magic.

I also remember the Freeze mod with its openFNG5-like map and bright blue sky with sun.

I walked around the map; it was very interesting and exciting. I’d like to make this project more extensive. What I propose:

• Remove the automatic kick to spectators when AFK (then the AFK room makes no sense)
• Allow zoom during gameplay so you can examine the pictures better.
• I’d also like more information about TeeWars (if possible), and to walk around other maps.
• Regarding textures, it’s not very clear whether the old textures were simply in the game files or whether they were changed in patches. I also have an idea to represent, for example, dm1 using animations—how this map would look with the old textures big_smile
• I remember that players were reluctant to migrate from 0.5 to 0.6. Is there any additional information about this?
• Regarding modding, I think mods can be divided into 5 groups: insagib mods, DDrace mods, Zombie mods, City mods, and Ball mods. There’s a lot that could be covered. For example, how iDDrace (a 0.5 dummy mod) became the prototype for dummy appearing in DDNet (LMAO), or is that not true? Or about dead popular mods: Catch16, zCatch, TeeMo, infection, ictf.

Controversial ideas:
• Mention client mods (Ninslash, MineTee), or would that be unnecessary?
• Histories of modified popular game clients, or the history of popular cheat clients (I consider this part of the game).
• Player traffic, how many players played the game, how the number increased/decreased. How the future death of the game was predicted, and how a new large online player base emerged.

Minor ideas:
• Make an animation for old_rifle similar to regular weapons.
• Place the katana over a transparent tile so it can be seen better.
