Topic: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

This topic will cover things that still need to be done in order for Teeworlds to be released on Steam.

First of all, it would be good if the Steam package of Teeworlds was tested. If you want to help there, please PM me (1) your steam login (not nick) name, and (2) the email address you used to sign up for Steam. Windows and OS X testers are especially needed.

EDIT: Please post which OS you are on and whether you could successfully start Teeworlds. Under the assumption that you all got Windows so far, I still need a OS X tester.

  • A trailer. Oblique. is working on that.

  • A fifth screenshot, there only are 4 Teeworlds screenshots, but Steam wants 5.

  • An idea for a logo picture for the store page, something like the top right image here on the Portal 2 page.

  • A few other pictures.

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

Thanks for your support, I now have at least one tester for each operating system – no more testers needed for now.

Added a few things that are needed.

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

These are the four current screenshots (click to enlarge):

I would like to see the rifle (and maybe the ninja?) featured in the fifth screenshot. What do you think?

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

Is there a snow map with ninja? Because I think the last screenshot should be a snow map (the other tilesets already have their screenshots).

burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

Last screenshot really should be one of ctf2

I suppose it could also be dm8, if I'm remembering correctly. It also has some spikes.

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

I'd take something like this as the logo picture for the store page.
I just used a tee Landil created some years ago as an example.

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

DerHase: The white gradient doesn't really fit the graphical context, that is the steam website. Either experiment a little with other variations colors and see how they fit steam or just remove the gradient. Also the tee has a shadow. Otherwise it's neat.

Wow, that's a very nice picture, and it even has the right dimensions (460x215). I agree with Blue that the gradient is probably not so nice on a black background (which the Steam store page has). Do you have the source files for that image?

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

I created that image in 5 minutes, just to show you my idea of how the banner could look like. It wasn't supposed to be a submission big_smile

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

Why is it blury on the edges?

removing the white outline would make it better imo

I have to agree! I mean there should be a bit more variety ...

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

I remember that some people recorded the process of making a map in the editor. Take this one for example. This one's pre auto-mapper and shift-dragging so it looks a little more time-consuming than it is now (nowadays you add the tiling variations only after you're done testing). But the concept is great and it looks awesome imo.

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

the pic above is great

regarding the 5th screenshot discussion: I'd rather add a ctf2 ninja and laser screenshot than using the 5th official one

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

Thanks all, full credit goes to DerHase for the actual idea! smile

Also, I have a suggestion: Some games (like Starbound for example) add a shortcut to the Server executable in the Steam library. Maybe this could also be made for Teeworlds to make it easier for (casual) players to start their own servers (e.g. for map testing).
Of course it would be good then to let the casual players know how to actually use the server to test maps (e.g. through an ingame pop-up on the first start of the editor, which could also contain a little tutorial), but this would require more work in the actual code, of course.

Edit: Was wrong about Starbound, but it would still be a cool feature, I think.

There's nothing wrong with 6 screenshots either. smile

Re: Teeworlds on Steam, Checklist

It's hard to find a CTF server with the Katana enabled and getting a match going on it.
Maybe someone has an old recording when the Katana was actually featured in CTF? Or we just go with 6 screenshots...

Is there a way to turn of every HUD-element? Even the demo-controls?
If not, I try to edit the screenshots...

Not in the vanilla client, but many modified clients have this option.
