Topic: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

Got any small questions that don't necessarily need a whole topic for it?
Well this is the place for! smile

Just ask your question and any of our good forum members will answer you.

I'll start:

We all know that a double rocket jump will take us higher than a usual rocket jump. And triple one even higher.
So my question is: Does this have a limit? For example if it has a limit: a 5 rocket jump will take you no higher than 4 rocker jump. And if it has: A 60 rocket jump would take you straight up 1000 tees high.

Yes big_smile
but you must be a very good player

Re: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

in theory i think there would be no limit  but tw's built in infinite speed limit which makes you stay still

Re: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

what is this philosophical advance? big_smile
i'm sure at 99% because with aip ( 10 or 20 grenades per seconds ) you can jump very very very high

The 5 rocket jump (or the 6th, I don't remember), is actually impossible to execute.
Ask Jordane, (you may look for his topic), this is due to the limited lifetime of the grenade.
IF you mod the server, then yes you can reach unlimited speed. There is no speed limitation either, you will simply be slowed down by the gravity and the air friction.

Yes but let's say that your team mates or someone else also fire a grenade for your jump. (I remember seeing a video where the finish line was very high and impossible with a double jump. So 2 players stood on the left and right side of the player who was recording, and fired their grenades for the middle player who also launched 2 grenades;ending up in a 4 rocket jump.)

OK. Thanks for your replies.

Re: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

I have a question
Teeworlds can download unnoficial maps, now imagine
2 maps have the same size and name, but Teeworlds can undestand if the map is the same has the other.
Imagine, Map 1 and Map 2.

I already have map 1 (100kb - Called Map)
Now I will enter on a server that have Map 2 (100kb - Called Map).
But Teeworlds know that the maps are different. How does this work? Does Teeworlds Upload all the map to the server before enter or...? (It should not be cuzz' it would take to much time).
Can someone explain this to me?!

It uses hash. Has is some kind of "big number" which characterize the map. It means if two maps are different, it's VERY unlikely that the hash numbers will be the same. The hash is written in the map file name (it's the weird hexa numbers you see next to the map name).

Re: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

In other words, the slightest change in the map will result in a entirely different hash code (due to the Avalanche effect)
Am I right?
But is there any algorithm by which the hash code is generated? I mean if you create a map from scratch and you make it exactly like an already existing map, will the hash generated be the same as the already existing map???

P.S. Any answers on my question?

Yes, except there is nothing like an "avalanche effect". The hash code will just be different.

DARK HUNTER wrote:

Yes, that's how it works.

Re: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

avalanche effect is only at diods lol.
I had a test about that some months ago xD
The effect (and the zena effect) makes using diods with wrong polarisation possible.
Sorry for OT yikes

Re: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

Another question...

I think i know a lot about the editor. But one thing that i don't know is the S after each tile/quad/goup/and so on.
What is it?

Re: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

It's for saving. If the S is red the group or layer is saved.
If you uncheck it the layer or group wont be saved.
It helps sometimes if you want to try new stuff and compare the differences.

O_O

Now i get that ^^ Thank you smile

Re: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

Tnks Dune.
I have other question.
I dunno why but Localhost servers doesn't appear on Lan Tab, but I can connect to them via IP (On the case, localhost:8303 or any other port)
I've already tried to kill my settings, but it just fails again. Does someone know why?! ._.

Re: [Questions] Ask your miscellaneous questions here!

Because of the port of you server. Only a small range of ports can be seen in the Lan tab. But 8303 should be visible in Lan

P.S. Your question is technical,so I think that it's actually off topic :S

Clicking on Internet tab actually sends requests to ~800 servers for the server info.
LAN tab is hardcoded to Internet tab just sending requests to localhost with ports from 8303 to 8310.
