Topic: How can i open a LAN server

Hi, i read the turtorial to open a web server but i don't know how to open ports
on my Speedport W500v ( If you know it plz tell me)


hm ok but now my question is how to open a LAN server
me and my friends met almost every weekend to play in LAN and i want to open a server.
Can you help me?

Normaly you use something called "Port forwarding" of "NAT" to "open" the ports. I'm not familiar with Speedport, but if you access the settings and look for it, it's probably there.

To set up a LAN-server you change the config-file default.cfg and change "sv_sendheartbeats=1" to "sv_sendheartbeats=0". I don't think it will appear in the LAN serverlist though, so your friends will have to access it by the IP-address.

I found the nat settings on my routter but its very strange

i have two options: there is triggering ports TCP:
                                              UDP:

and to oped ports TCP:
                  UDP:

and when i write 8303 in every line then there is an error

You need to forward UDP 8303 to the IP of your server. I think you should leave the triggering part alone.

and what is my server ip or can i create one on myself??

another prob is that i can choose between Dialpad and ICU II
and i don't know what it is

The IP address is the network address to you computer. I assume you run windows, and in that case you hit RUN in your startmenu and type "cmd". Now you will get a "console". To see your computers IP you type "ipconfig". This will most likly give you quite some output, but if you scroll back you will find a line saying something like

"IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2"

That is the IP address you'll have to forward to.

Where is it that you can chose between Dialpan and ICU II?
I can't recall any common setting that could refer to, but I might be wrong...

You can try, I have VERY basic knowledge in german however, so don't expect very much from me, but maybe someone else can help you.
