Topic: [MAP] CanyonFort (pitofspikes)

Name:
Canyon Fort
(formerly pitofspikes)

Size:
width is 372
height is 258, but there is nothing below 130 except the drop to the spikes.
CanyonFort-XL (an alternate version) is 420 by 429

Tilesets:
desert_main (the dirt and sand)
generic_deathtiles (the spikes)
generic_unhookable

Version:
It's the first release on this forum, but at least four versions were uploaded to my server under the title "pitofspikes..." or "Deserted-Desert-of-Doom".

GameType: ctf
Players: 6+ But that's just an estimate.  I've never had more than three.

Description:  Gradually adjusted so that players can freely swing through it.  The upper half of the map is a floating arena, and the lower half is a drop to the death tiles at the bottom.  The vertically traversed bases are enclosed, opening at the bottom into the open space.  From there, you hook your way to the central fort.

Some unique features that you can see in the screenshots:
- Some 2x2 platforms are surrounded by armor pieces.  You can collect 3 or 4 at once by swinging around the platform.
- The spaced hookless tiles form a permeable floor.  You can choose to stay above it by jumping or moving at a high rate of speed.  Rising through it is harder, and requires that you hook something above it.  Hooks and projectiles only pass through it if they are shot vertically.
- You traverse the stretch of spikes in the middle by rocket jumping, swinging on the 2x2s, or a combination of both.
- In the middle, free-floating spikes delineate three partitions.  Players cannot pass through these spikes, but projectiles and hooks can.
- At the middle of the fort are two downward exits that allow you to hook yourself to the other side.  This is an alternative to crossing over the spikes.  If you edit the map to remove those unhookable tiles, players can entirely bypass the central fort by swinging beneath it.

This is actually an overview of CanyonFort-Alt, but it's good enough.

These overlays of screenshots are more accurate.

CanyonFort-Alt is slightly different. I will upload it even though it's not the recommended version.
CanyonFort-Alt: https://downloads.teeworlds.com/solidfi … rt-Alt.map
The earlier versions of this map were unreasonably large, and so it was gradually sized down.  I will upload the earlier versions so that they might give way to other derivative works.

The next one came a bit later.  I forgot to add .map to the filename after copying.  CanyonFort-L: https://downloads.teeworlds.com/solidfi … nyonFort-L

Many of you will want to make minor changes.  In fact, that's what I have been doing for a while.  If you host a version that is only slightly altered, use a similar naming format.  You may shorten it to CanFort to give more space for a unique identifier.

Thanks to everyone who entered my server to comment and test.  Thanks to Heinrich and ElectricTee for subtly pointing out that the early version was too big.
