Nodes 1.1.1 Porting on 0.6

It's still in progress.
I must say the Nodes Author is really skillful.

It's a HUGE PROJECT!!

So, may be you can help me to finish the project on 0.6
AND IT WILL BE ON 0.7 TOO!!!

I try to made every line and every var write rightly in 0.6 code format!

Some class are already done, but there are still tons of things to do!

I just like the mod Nodes when 0.5.
Though it must have a special client. (Buildings you know..)

Hey TsFreddie!

I'd love to help you with your project! I came back to teeworlds after a 2 month break, and it's not as active as it was before. I decided to make videos about teeworlds coding, because noone else did before, which meight be the reason there are not too many coders in teeworlds, which results in less variety.

That's why i think we need more major mods like this one. If you could use any of my help as a programmer or just as somebody porting some functions to 0.6, i have some experience there.

Nodes (based on 0.5) is still available (even the source). 0.5 to 0.6 moved more parts of the code from C to C++ but which player cares regarding that step? It is just nice for developers. As far I remember I've even put already tilesets from 0.6 into 1.0.4 nodes. There was an event to get even more maps and so on. The problem is not the 0.5 based code or the maps or the gameplay. The mod is fun there was enough dedicated servers with good connection and enough maps. Just players where missing after the first hype (where we got more than 16 players into server which caused issues to normal TW-clients).

In my opinion one main problem of Nodes is Teeworlds. Nodes is not compatible with Teeworlds but is not advertised as it's own game. It seems even hard for some to find the latest client if they already found the right thread in this forum. I finished the 1.0.4 version a long time ago and still saw many servers was running on the old 1.0.1 version (that contained a hard-coded password). It was necessary to fiddle around the 16 player limit because Nodes used the same master-servers as Teeworlds did. In a moment where a lot of players where testing and had fun playing the new mod it was necessary to shut down servers (not because of Nodes but because of Teeworlds that got issues with that unexpected servers with more than 16 players). Afterwards the advertisement stopped. So I think there are 3 ways: Include Nodes into Teeworlds so nobody needs a different client (I don't think this would ever happen) or make Teeworlds more client-modfriendly so no further client is required (which means the port from 0.5 to 0.6 would be obsolet) or spilt up Nodes fully from Teeworlds and advertise it independet for new players (0.5 or 0.6 does not matter... because it's not TW). Nodody would wait in an empty server to play with -one- other player afterwards waiting hours for a third player - even if the game with 16 players would make huge fun.

the mod is far more better than tw itselft (alot of my frieds back me up on this one), the problem is there should be some way to balance the teams and the gameplay, it's more like monopoly the  players know who is going to win before the end of the game and most of the times there is no way to change that, so they lose interest, maybe if there was some way to add bots to balance or make the players spectate until another one is available, or even make a score system that would keep people feeling like they are making progress even if they are losing( i don't have any particular suggestions considering this one) but apart from that i think the game is awesome smile, thank you guys for your hard work i spent so many years playing this game i hope it keeps on developing.

add more weapen systems , new defend systems
i can give you idea too if you need
make it for new versions too...
if you work open source  i can add some funny things to your mod

For the need of a custom client. Have you thought of using modapi for it, wouldn't that be possible?

Having troubles finding servers in the serverlist? Go to Pastebin (its a referer cause there is daily a new pastebin) and add the lines to your settings.cfg (in %APPDATA%\teeworlds). Then open teeworlds and go to the favorites tab. (Note however, standard teeworlds client can only show 256 favorites, use ddnet instead)

Yah even the readme file on the github page doesn't really say anything about this mod.
