Thanks for the feedback guys. I myself am looking forward for Azon to reply here to see if he wants to be the big boss of this project.

I think we need more details on how long the article can be.

I dont know if there are any limitations but I think a review should not be too long and therefore cannot touch all topics we would like to talk about. The point of the review should be to be easily readable, and get people interested, so when people read it they'll say: Wow, how cute I _gotta_ check out their site. That's why I had that idea with the logo - there's not much place for pictures, and a single screenshot can't express the nature of the game/play, but show those geeks a picture with their favourite linux's ( mine too ) logo and a cute tee infront of it and they'll shit bricks. Btw as I said their previous issues feature game reviews - Issue #1 and #2, so you can check them out.

Some time ago I contacted Archuser staff members if they would publish an article about teeworlds in their magazine. The answer was positive so i started writing. But i realised that i am not really good at that therefore I am asking you - the community if some people who have time and potential could get together and write a short overview of the game. If you have no idea how it should look check out the previous issues, they feature game reviews. I really hope this call of contribution wont go unanswered, because the Archuser magazine is on the rise ( almost 4000 downloads for latest issue ) and they need quality contributions, and teeworlds also needs some "fame". Since this is a magazine mainly for geeks, i hope we might interest some people who could help in the developement, or just join us on our late-night ctf killing sprees and have enormous amounts of fun.

PS.: I think the teewiki would be a great place for such a collaborative work, if there'll be more people willing to take part.

PS^2.: Great graphic designers which we have plenty of could make a picture for the review - my idea is a tee standing in front of the Archlinux logo, but it doest have to be that, it can be a screenshot from the game, or anything - it's our decision!

This topic is pointless. People already explained to you why things are the way they are. Theres one thing you can do about it: accept. And stop speaking in the name of the whole teeworlds-playing community. You are one person and the fact that something pleases you doesnt mean that it would please others. If you want to know my opinion - i'm happy with the way the filter works, and I dont agree that the minority plays vanilla and the majority plays mods. Stop explaing over and over again why it would be good to have the filter your way, no one actually cares.

Programmers dont ask such questions, they go on and find out.

The first two have already been discovered long time ago -http://www.teeworlds.com/forum/viewtopi … 704#p31704

The second i cant watch because the hoster where you uploaded them says i need to wait 1 hour after downloading a few kbytes ( the first demo ) ...

Well I see this on a daily basis. When the voting got introduced people immediately began to 'abuse' it by voting to kick less skilled players when they couldnt join. I've seen many good players do this, and sometimes I did it too. It has happened to me that I have been votekicked out of a server because when I joined I was automatically put in a team, and disrupted some peoples training. If i was to be put in spectators first I would even try to join seeing they have some training going on. Plus some of the better players think something along the lines they have more right to play the game since they play longer and better than new players. This is very flawed but what can you do after all. Some possible steps are making sv_tournament_mode default and making/transferring some servers dedicated to beginners.

+1 OP

I couldn't agree more. The attitude against instagib around here is mostly childish. And it's been shown on this thread as well. I'm an old school instagib player and I wouldn't change a thing about the way it was played already in 0.4. I host an instagib server with lost and I'm going to continue doing so in the future even if I have to make the mod myself to be like it has always been. Sure go ahead with your ideas about changing the mod but my view is that there is no need for changes even if some people fail or refuse to see the beauty of instagib.

PS. Hope we some day get a xyz vs. MS match arranged. wink

The only one with wrong attitude here is you. If you would read the whole thread you would know that people here try to give constructive feedback on how to make this mod more competitive and enjoyable to people. The fact that the current game status statisfies all your needs DOES NOT mean that it statisfies all the people who play this mod. Its because people ARE different. So are their needs. As for the ideas posted, the creator of this mod ASKED for ideas to make the mod better. I couldnt care less on how you continue developing your mod and your supressed community which receives only hate and wrong attitude, I just tried to help. And thanks for the effort to turn this thread into a flame war.

I have some input on how to make this mod more competitive. Ill try to be short and up to the point. The key concept of my ideas is that a single shot would not kill you. I know this would not be real instagib, but then call it something else. If you still read this here are my ideas

1 u spawn with a laser with 2/3 ammo ( normal spawn, no delay )
2 if u want moar ammo go pick it up ( in places of normal weapons ( or once u pick a weapon u have infinite ammo ) )
3 if u want to live longer pick those shiny gray credit cards ( i mean armor )
4 the rifle does 5 damage which means u can kill a newly spawned player in 2 shots and a fat-ass-armored one in 4 shots ( however there would be only armor pickups, and the rifle would do 2 hearth damage and rest armor/health. This means theres no way to live more than 5 shots even if u pick full armor after each hit )
5 consider putting back the laser jumps

The numbers are only speculations if you would choose to implement something like that u may need to balance test it. This is how i see my ( theoretical )modifications:
1 and 3 solve the too easy flag defense
2 and 5 make u move to places u was never in in instagib, which makes the gameplay less linear, more unexpected situations, whatever.
4 solves the monotonous gameplay ( go, respawn, go, ...)

Btw I mostly agree with the non-instagib players who expressed their opinions there even if I havent seen MTC or played insta for long time. I played several times, seen some good players, and from my point of view playing instagib is like listening to a cool song on your mp3 player ... over and over again 24/7

Edit: omg it works

You must put
sv_rcon_password "blabla"
into your servers configuration file

On a side note I didnt know it was kool to laugh at people who doesnt know english as well as me. From now on I will laugh at every mispelled post of you guys.

The problem is that someone needs to decide what gives u a significant advantage. Therefore I agree with chi11y. Let me explain: you said that adding a minor graphical improvement that reminds you of something is ok. Now if I was to extend my client with the functionality of counting the respawn time for weapons, armor, flags, katana - simply All pickups, so that the client would remind me if theres any armor / health to pick up near me, this would give me a great advantage. You already have this information from the game, since you know that if you pick up a weapon, it will reappear half a minute later, but its hard for a player to watch the timer, keeping in mind the order and time he picked up stuff, and play at the same time.

On a side note, I play with the armor, health and ammo meter sprites lowered by 2 pixels, so they are smaller. I dont consider myself a cheater, and I would be happy if I could legitimately change such behaviour.

It is possible only by trickery. U have to create two additional config files. Name them dynoff.cfg and dynon.cfg ( just an example ) and place them in teeworlds config dir ( ~/.teeworlds on linux )
dynoff.cfg:

[command to turn off dyn cam]
bind t "exec dynon.cfg"

dynon.cfg:

[command to turn on dyn can]
bint t "exec dynoff.cfg"

Then u can switch with the t key. Dont forget to add

bind t "exec dynon.cfg"'

into your settings.cfg

Sure you are right, i jsut suggested adding some more options to the borrow server tab, so when u borrow the server u are ready to go.

My tips:
support only vanilla maps/gamemodes ( like it is now ) - easiear, cleaner, simply better
when the server side demo recording gets bug-free ( hope soon enough ), make recorded demos avaliable to the person who requested the server ( keep them for a hour or two after the server expires ). Add scorelimit/timelimit/powerups/scpectator_slots selection to the servers tab maybe.

The real problem here is that people get upset if they get chatkilled. If I stop to chat, I am aware that I am risking my life while i am chatting, simple as that. I see no problem here at all. If u want to chat, just do it ... but then again, dont start crying that u got chatkilled.
