I'm not sure I fully grab your idea, but that trigger some thought in my mind (woo, that's not usual tongue).

What do you think of some metling tiles where your friends can drop you on (with a good grab with the hook for example) and after let's say 5s, you melt.

Because something that I have seen alot in game is players hooking frozen players either in order to unfreeze them by dragging them close.

The concept could be extended to melting tiles. For example you could grab a friend, drop him on the melting tile, and pursue the game without having to wait for him to unfroze.

This is keeping the team spirit but could also make it even more tactical.

(not sure that i'm understandable, don't hesitate to ask me to re explain).

Well that is about it.
Just to say it again, to make sure you get it.

In a map you see ice. Don't go on it or else you will freeze!
Oh darn you stayed on the ice to long. >,<

But lucky you, a teammate saw that you were frozen and put you in some water, to save time.
Yay! you melted, now to get back in the game!

And that is about it. smile

Some facts about the tiles:
The water tile you can go though, the ice tile you can not.

There is a down side for being in the water to long:
You drown (die) after about 8 secs.
The up side (if already frozen) you melt after 5 secs.

The down side to ice: You freeze after 3. The up side: You can stay on it forever with out dieing. The other down side: If you are on it, you aren't playing. (like omg)

What was my idea of the whole, freeze and melt tiles.

Regarding the tiles:
Gonna add tiles from instant freeze/melt till 5s freeze/melt.
(Pics like: 'Melting tee 0', 'Freezing tee 0', Melting tee 1', 'Freezing tee 1', Melting tee 2', 'Freezing tee 2', etc etc etc
So map makers can do way more smile
Im glad i hear such great ideas to keep the mod interesting tongue

Seems to me laserjumps wouldn't be such a great improvement, because it tends to randomize gameplay a lot more and would be problematic if the splash would also cause tees getting frozen. Besides there are always too little non-laserjump servers, so it would be a shame to see the freeze mod take that path as well. It was one of the elements that damaged the instagib scene with the release of 0.5.0 and it wouldn't be good to see such problems again.

If you feel it has to be part of the mod at least turn it off by default to prevent so we'll have a good selection of non-laserjump servers. Those that really want it on their server can switch it on.

I'm really looking forward to the freezing tiles though, or more or less any sort of tiles that interact with the tees. This would definitely enable major improvements for all sorts of ideas people can come up with.

Ill think about the laserjumps.
In my current private version, its disabled by default anyways.
It would be a great feature if there wasnt the hook, but as there is, i dont like it aswell.
Though it was requested often, so imo people should have the ability to put it on if they want.
Ill keep it off on my official servers of course wink

I'm atm working on the tiles and im pretty successful smile
Not much time left till i can release the new version... ^^

EDIT:
Finished the instant freeze and melt tiles, they work perfectly now smile
Gonna do the Time ones now.

We've got a new update here:

Version 4.0 is out.

General changes:
- Some cosmetic src changes which make it work more fluently etc...

Bugs fixed:
- Some perma melting bug
- Possible server crash factors

Added features:
- Laserjumps (not suggested as it makes the game too easy)
- Tiles for making players freeze / melt after certain time. entities.png is in the first post

Please keep reporting all the bugs. smile

i dont understand. the server says it is 4.0 by tom but ppl loiter in the middle of ifreeze stage and when they hit the spikes, they respawn unfrozen. also, in the ifreeze stage can you put collision tiles beneath the spikes? it seems more professional that way

imo its good as it is smile

Also the respawning unfrozen is a term of config.
I simply dont like respawning frozen so i have put it off smile

The freeze tiles make the person touching it freeze after being inside those freeze tiles for the amount of time which is given at the tile.
Same goes for melt tiles... dunno how to explain better :S

i thought about that problem aswell.
Instant melt tiles should be placed strategic...
You can pull the frozen (or living) player outside of the melting area or simply set the anticamper range high enough...
There didnt come and better solutions to my mind :S

I think i solved the problem with some simple thoughts. If you melt on it, you respawn in your base anyways and you can get killed smile

Maybe ill make the anticamper not trigger while chatting but this will enable abusers...
I think ill create a server variable smile

PS:
I created a variable to toogle if players respawn after melting or if they just continue playing at the place there were when melted smile
(this isnt released atm)

I code really much currently...
We have a new version once again.
You need to know, the major numbers always increase when i overall improve the src and add big new features. Also the minor numbers are private builds which dont get released, so don't wonder why the major numbers always increase so often smile

If you didnt understand this then nvm xD

Bugfixes:
- Possible server crash bugs
- Melting issues (too much to explain)
- Improved spawnprotect bug fixed
- Frozens which hit death tiles dont like points anymore

New commands:
- Some new management to avoid camping on melt tiles
- A command to toogle if frozens have the tag [F]

New features:
- Referee system:
Admins can set a password for so called 'referees'. They can login in the rcon console with their password, but have limited rcon rights which are set by variables. This is to improve the server management, give trusted players access to avoid abusers, spammers, vote spammers etc etc etc and to give ALL clan members which get referee the ability to set up clanwars, so there can occur more often.
Well known and respected people can get referee access and fight against abusers on many servers.

General improvements:
The src got improved cosmeticly and performancely smile

You can bypass protected slots by using the referee or the rcon password aswell now.
