My suggestion is dont post unless you have something to show. For me this post is spam and i hope it will be deleted soon.

I suggest that the ctf maps are voted especially regarding gameplay by hosting the good ones ( best 3 for example ) for a week or so, and making matches on them. There are some good maps that can bring some fresh air to the dull ctf2 scene. And i think maps that have doodads and other crap like stars visible with hi-detail turned off should be disqualified.

I would prefer to have better Quality of Service - lower ping, faster map download, lagless gameplay than any of the advanced stuff you said. And these features are planned for 0.5.2 afaik. And just because you think that irc and mumble would be cool, doesnt mean that everybody is on the same opinion. But ofcorse you are free to make your own modded client and add _whatever_ you like, just dont be surprised if people will call you a cheater. After all aimbots are modded clients too.

IRC integrating is a fail. Just dont do it. It has nothing to do with gaming - IRC is for chat ( internet relay chat ) and the game is for playing. Its like combinig a fork with a chainsaw. And I agree with chi1, instead of making an unofficial version - which by many people is thought of as an unfair advantage (myself included), help developing the official version - make mockups, test code, join the mailing list and send patches etc.

i dont think so.
moon is "farer (is this english?^^)" away then stars. its ok

orly? If stars were closer to us that the moon our planet would be shish-kebab.

btw the word is ( more far away/more distant )

PM's are useless IMHO. They make the forums more blatant and harder to administer etc. Append your msn, icq whatever in your sig, if you want to be accessible to others.

Perhaps make the layer overlapping your non-visible stuff hidden. Or/And zoom out until its visible.

I have an idea which I originally intended for the vanilla game, but seeing as how mush you struggle with the administering i will present it. My idea is that since most servers have only 1-2 admins, and they are not always online its really hard to keep a high level of moderating the game. If you have people you trust among the regular players of your server you could give them rcon access but it is not really secure as they can pass on the information or misuse their powers. Therefore introducing a level of moderating the game between the player and admin level - a third console for game-masters/moderators whatever. My idea is like that - the admin creates a seperate config file containing the actions that the gm's can do, for example:
change the sv_spectators between 12 and 10 (imagine switching between 2v2 ctf1 and 3v3 ctf3) but not less or more
force votes, kick or ban players, change maps
The admin would decide how much control he gives to gm's and he could give that password to people he trusts, for example every hi-level clan regularly playing on your server gets it. Then when there is some trouble - teamkilling, spamming, botting theres a much bigger chance an authorized person is there and can help the situation. Or you can even search for some memebers of those gm allowed clans and ask them to clean up the mess. Ofcourse gm's and admins should not be kicked (whitelist and/or automatic deny of kicking rcon authed persons). I think the whole problem with illiterate players is not worth givng so much attention, because you cannot do too much against childish behaviour, and the same or worse could happen when such an account gets into the wrong hands, but the key point is that the gm account is below rcons, so an admin can kick/ban a gm, while a gm cant mess with the admin. Maybe this soultion would not work for all people, but for those who really want to keep order on their servers it could help develop something as a trusted network when a small amount of server admins decide to give each other gm access to their servers etc.

I just see no point in this whole discussion. It has been said many times that there will be no cheat-protection implemented in teeworlds, because its not a priority, its difficult to implement and not bullet-proof ( You cant stop people from creating aimbots, no matter what u come up with they will outsmart you - dont want to give ideas here ). I play vanilla and never had problems with aimbots, because they just wont work in vanilla; and I understand that for people playing mods like instagib or freeze it is a problem, but please, its your problem, and these forums are about the vanilla game - especially when you discuss developement and implementation requests. Contact the creators and maintainers of those mods and mock them to make this and that. And please dont bring your problems from other mods to vanilla.

Like dat: http://teewiki.info/wiki/Map_editor_tut … ope_editor
Next time use the search function and check teewiki first. Kthx.

Just want to inform you that this project has not died, but unfortunately there wont be a July release, so you have to wait till August to see our review in the newsletter.

Thanks! I dont know why but it reminds me of this http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pxhWV3RCTJc/S … bradka.jpg wink

I recently used the forums in read-only mode but this post has drawn my attention. I have some ideas on how to reduce the clutter/rubbish which is stacking up around here. You can't do nothing with new users asking the same and same questions again. But there is a way out. My suggestions:

1. make a category for FAQ, it should contain: previous topics, one per question, stripped down from meaningless posts and locked. So when someone asks a question for ex. "What is a mod/how to mod" instead of getting angry and replying with
- use the search function/google
- or actually explaining
a user/mod posts a link to the appropriate thread in the FAQ category and locks the topic.
User policy: Do not reply, or if you do, dont say anything just a link to the appropriate section, then report to a mod.
Mod policy: post a link to the app. section if not done yet and lock the thread.
This takes some work to do especially making the extra category and adding old stripped threads to it, but it only has to be done once. Note: this still wont help if you keep replying with one-sentence meaningless "OMG! Use the search funktion!" posts to new threads. You ( the users ) have to be mature too, if you expect new users to be mature!

2. this game deserves a better documentation, so if someone is looking for information they dont have to search the old threads - which sometimes results in necroposting. The teewiki already has a lot of information, but it lacks a nice front page with links to the most popular content/most FAQ. If it would have such a page it could replace the obsolete documentation we have so far. Compare http://openarena.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page to http://teewiki.info/wiki/Main_Page

We all live in the country its in -> the internets ! Its an online magazine and when it comes out ill post the link here. In my first post theres the link to the previous issues of the magazine.

I've submitted our work and ofcourse I will inform you of the happenings! Thanks to all the people who helped, I hope we dont have to wait too long to see our review in AUM.

Yeah those points have to be mentioned and built into the text we already have, since they are all important. I never thought that the little text we've written is already much. Maybe have to refactor that or we can get more space if we use only one picture ? What do you think ?

Yeah as I said I'm not a gfx person, but since its a commnunity project its not me who decides its the community. I suggest you two - Lappi and Landil work together ( if you want and have time ) and make something really nice.

O-M-G that is awesome! I think you have the potential to do such an illustration so if you have the time please make one! I cannot tell you the size atm, but i will try to investigate that.

( and its not skeletor - just an avatar looking similar ( it was a skeletor in the beginning but was changed due to copyright ) )

Thanks for doing this skin, here my comments:
- the skull part is too small ( the logo is unimportant and the whole hoodie stuff could be smaller to make more space for the skul )
- the whole apperance of the skull should not be scary, and the eyes should be bigger, plus i dont like them changing colours

Hello, I would be pleased if someone could make a skin looking like this avatar/figure - http://www.archlinux.org/img/devs/phrakture.png. If the skin happens to be nice it will be featured ( as part of a picture/logo ) in the teeworlds review we are currently writing. Thanks in advance.

Okay, thanks to the efforts of Azon we now have a teewiki page dedicated to the construction of this game review, so If you want to help with the writing check out the wiki page; to edit you need to have an account on teewiki. If you have ideas, discuss them on the talk page of the review. Your contribution is expected and welcome !
