Topic: [MOD] Warfare

Hello teeworlds players.
I had the idea to do a mod like in UT3 (an awesome game not for young people), a Warfare mod.
But the real difference is that there will not be vehicles (of course).

I am going to explain you the purpose of this mod.

First a very well made schema to explain you the base :

X is the RED GENERATOR.
X is the BLUE GENERATOR.
O is a NEUTRAL NODE.

As you can see, generators are linked thanks to nodes (green lines).
Each generator has 100 points of life.
Each node has 50 points of live (for the moment).

When the generator of a team has 0 point of live, the team lose.
But, you can't try to destroy the other generator when the match start.
You must link it to your generator to desactivated the other's shield.

To link it is simple :
- First, just touch the first node (in the order of link, so here the left-bottom).
- Then the node will build itself (his life increase to 50), you can help it hammering it.
- When the node is totally built, it is linked to your generator and you can try to link the following.

But, of course, the other team (here blue) will also build her node.
Don't worry you can destroy it !
Just try to destroy it like you want kill a tee.
When it will be destroyed, just build your second node.
When all node are built you can destroy the adverse generator.
Well, you think that it will be very long matches and you are right, but, there is a last thing to accelerate the matches : the BALL.
The BALL is created near the latest node built of a team. When you take the ball you have not any weapon but you life constantly increase. When you touch a built node with a ball you instantly capture it. So if a node is red and you touch it with the ball, it become blue.

Things to precise :
-Imagine that you are building the second node here.
Nodes before this one are protected by a shield like the generator, so the other team must destroy the node that you are building first.
-you can't repair your generator.
-You can repair you nodes hammering them.
-To build another node you must finish building the actual one.
-You respawn near the last node built.

You can of course put more or less nodes.

This mod will also include new physics possibilities, like water, non-gravity area, lava, etc...

But... is this possible with Teeworlds? Are you able to do something like that?
Well, I'm not the best in modding, but I know that this will be hard...
Especially when you want to create something that you can destroy/repair.

I like the idea, but I have some questions:

Will you be able to repair your generator? (This would make the game last very long)
How long will it last to build up a node? (When there are tees fighting you during you build up a node it won't be possible to keep both nodes)
Do you have to build up the node near your generator first before it get possible to build up the second one?
(During the game it will get important, even if it doesn't matter at the beginning.)

Anyways I think when the mod is made and tested it will be one of the greatest mods in teeworlds smile, along with iFrzCTF and WAR3.

Well, I'm not the best in modding, but I know that this will be hard...
Especially when you want to create something that you can destroy/repair.

I have already in my head the whole structure don't worry smile.
I also started UT very young even it is bad ^^.

i forget to precise that, you can't repair your generator.
The time to build a node, i will fix it when i am going to testing a Beta.
And yes you must first build you first node to be able to build another.

Just like i imagined XD

I got 1 stupid idea, probably hard to program but i wanna post it:

U could give each weapon some kind of secondary fire activated by a command.

Like, if u use shotgun and use the secondary cmd u fire a grenade
If u use Grenades u can fire straight rockets and with secondary u fire 2 at once spreading a bit appart
And u can fire 1 slow grenade flying straigt with the laser which explodes if u hit it with laser.

Just giving the weapons more functions and a bit like UT smile

Idk if this is possible... and u probably dont wanna make it but i just wanted to post.

No, no, and NO. This game is called teeworlds, not unreal Tournament.
And i don't want modify the gameplay, i just want to create a new gamemode.

Well the i like hte gametype idea but i don´t like the new physic things (even if i don´t have to use them )

i Only see the problem that the matches will last like forever with just one way

but this can be controlled by the map with putting diffrent ways to the generaters not only just 1 like in your picture

To don't use a modded client, generators and nodes looks like flags (don't worry i have thought to that).
For exemple, a node under construction will be like in the mod domination.

Is it possible to make ppl respawn at their best node?
Because this would also speed up the gameplay.

And 2nd thing:

U could make dmg stars at nodes showing their hp triggering all 2 seconds.
1 star = 5 node hp
So Players would be able to c how far dmged/built up the node is.
Though i dont know if u can make dmg stars away from Tees...

Your posts are very useful my friend, i forget also to say that you respawn near the last node built.
Great idea for the node life. Another idea i had is a command like "/life" to see the life of the nearest node.

I would suggest the following:

Finish your awesome Zbots first, make them really good and fast but always fair. They should be able to play ctf2 and to gain speed with hook.

When this is done Warfare would be a great new project smile

Will the Ball be a Ninja sword and the Carrier the Ninja?

And also:
U should have a very big or invinity amount of weapons at nodes/generator because destroying a node with 50 hp with a pistole or a hammer takes just forever...

When you have the ball, you are an inoffensive ninja.
And 50 hp = 5 tees without armor smile.

Killing 5 Tees without weapons or lets say with a half empty grenade launcher and pistole takes pretty long.
And u will get attacked by enemys too.
until the grenade is empty u deal 30 dmg... then u still have to deal 20 with hammer or pistole and u mustnt get killed by enemys.

All i want to say is that there shouldnt be too less weapons arround XD

@ Stephanator : I have a bug in my pathfinding alogrythm , ZBots don't hook very well, and i don't find solutions...

Weapon lockers ftw. The wep lockers can instantly spawn new weps, if the admin wants. smile

To the Warfare mod: I am surprized ( [+1] ), I never belived that such a gamemode from Unreal can be ported into Teeworlds.

Another idea could be that if theres to less weapons the weapons could have 15 or 20 ammo so u can simpley use them longer hmm

Weapons locker would be good but  would have to find some item for it...

I have been reading the post and I haven't seen it. Maybe you have written it, but I haven't noticed it. So here it goes: how are the nodes? and how are the generators? I can't imagine how you'll do it. Sorry if I give only problems big_smile.

You could use flags for nodes for example, but what happens with the generators? And there is not a third flag for neutral nodes :S. At the moment, I think that you can't develope a mod where you can handle envelopes so it will be hard for you hmm . Take a look to the domination mod... the domination points of this mod can be simmilar to the nodes of your mod.

I thought the Generator is just another flag... u simply have to know that its the generator ^^
Maybe u can make some special tiles arround it, just in the background and not doing anything. Just making the generator look more important.
Like some giant barrel in the background and in the Middle is the flag which is the "weak point" of the generator smile

And as u said, in domination is a white flag which can also be used for neutral nodes.

Noooooooooooooo. This would change the gameplay.

Weaponlocker sounds nice.

I will explain it: A little machine that has "packets" of weapons.
You should put it in front of the spawnpoints, so that every tee does not go out with no weapons.

I know what a weapons locker us but what item u wanna put there?
Or just many weapons on each other in the Map editor?
That wouldnt look good...

How about that:
Each player spawns with 2 or 3 weapons (and hammer and gun)
At least u could make that if u dont find anything for weapon locker...
