Topic: [MOD] ZBots

ZBots Beta :

First it is important to precise that it is a modded server
I created these bots to be able to train offline for fun smile.
We are now 2 in the dev team, buffer[] help me and already did the rocket aim code.

What ZBots can do for the moment :

- They support the 3 basics gametypes : DM, TDM, CTF.
- They can aim very well with all weapons.
- They use a powerfull pathfinding system to negociate barriers and even avoid enemies when it is needed.
- They can pickup in function of what they need.

In CTF :
- There is two kinds of bots : Offenders and Defenders.
- Offenders can take, capture the flag and try to find a safe path to go out from the base.
- Offender who have not the flag cover the flag carrier.
- Defenders camp near the flag, but if you are too close their flag, they will not be happy...
- They even can cover the flag carrier if he is near the base.

What I should improove :

- Their team play
- Their speed
- Their intelligence

ZBots are like all players, they just have an AI, so remember that when you will get pwned.
Well it is better to see them than describe them so go on ZBot - dev server, enter the password (zbotbetatest) and of course enjoy.
I will only release ZBots when they will be ready.

Wow this is awesome and i think its kinda helpfully for guys who wanna train vanilla! i think there are much people who would rather enjoy this because therer arent spammers ;D teamkillers funkickers and so on,,

Some questions:

-Will these bots be released for instagib?(or is it already)

- is there a camperbot too, becuase you descriebd the different types like denfender and offender.. so my question is: do the defenders camp?.

Last but not least:

i would be glad if i could fight in a war against the zbots. i would help you ;D if you need someone who test them with you, im your man! and although i think i can host a server with a good ping ..

Great job, but if you release it then PLEASE just release the binaries...
It would make it way easier to create aimbots if people have a src for it...

It's safe to say that you better stick to hosting this modified server only by yourself, releasing it to the public might give them the equipment to abuse the AI's intelligence for their own goals.

Besides, if you include a release in this topic it would be in danger of premature closure at the hands of a moderator. Better stay safe and stick to hosting it yourself.

One thing that's not really clear to me is how bots can provide a more challenging training that human opponents, especially because they'll either be too good for human competition (as you stated in your topic), or lack the high intelligence a human brings into battle. It will be a difficult thing to balance these two elements into a functional mod.

as i played there lord made me a bot ^^ its really funny big_smile big_smile but it was without aimbot... only movement and shooting smile

Actually it was an aimbot wink
The person who is playing just doesnt see the aim moving because there simply isnt  feature for aim change per server built in the client. Others see you aiming... :S

Though i think its easyly detectable if someone uses such a hack wink

no it wasnt a aimbot... the bot (me) was shooting automatically but exactly where I was aiming at! So if i was aiming at the ground the bot shot into the ground wink

Well, when i got transformed to a bot the shots came out whre the enemy was and not where i was aiming yikes
Maybe he got different features for making humans be controleld by bots...

hmm dunno... im not sure... can be that it was still 0.4.3. As i was "transormed" in 0.5.1 i didnt really take care of that ^^

When i transform you in a bot the player in the game had an aimbot even if you could not see it.
But, if you try to shoot, you will fire normally.

but if you can shoot whenever you want, then it would be cheap. you could rocket launch acruss the stage then when you are going super speed, you activate laser which has aimbot to smoke people.

and why are humans play as aimbots? can you make the mod have automatically 1 bot for every 2 players on red/blue team? like bots [red team] other humans [blue]

You got something wrong:
Making humans as bots is just some extra admin feature he implented. Usually there are bots and players seperated. wink

players don't play as aimbots, it is just a funny freature who can be activated by admin only.
And i made a command to automatly play cw against ZBots (humans vs bots).

I will release binaries.
Pathfinding algorythm finally works but gve to the server a ping of >30,000 with only ONE bot (on my good computer).
I must work to optimize that xD.

Hm I don´t know if you really can call them the best, we even won them quite easily.

Of course, you have to know how you can beat them.

Defenders just camp in base, so you shoot them from the distance and when they are dead grab the flag and run because they need about 2-3 seconds to respawn.

That is their low point tongue

And okay, a have a suggestion... all Zbot should be able to do both defending and capturing.
Why? Deepening on the score for the non-bot playing team of CTF, will be the measurement of how many def's and captures there are on the Zbot team.

Let's say if the non-bot playing team are getting and capturing and flag at a faster than normal rate, then depending on how many more points the non-bot playing team has, will be the measurements of how many defenders there are on the Zbot team. smile

For instance... if the non-bot playing team has 150 more points than the Zbot team, there will be a random choosing of one of the captures becoming a defender, to counterbalance the non-bot playing team, for there extra 150 points.
(This would not apply, if there are no Zbots getting the flag.) 


And after 10 minutes of the Zbot team not getting any captures, then one of the Zbot defenders should switch to capturing.
(This would not apply, if there are no Zbots defending the flag.) 

And lastly if there is only one Zbot player playing, it's main goal should be capturing the flag.
And should switch to kill at all cost if the non-bot tee has the flag. But if the Zbot is within 15 tee feet of getting the flag, then it's goal is to get the flag, and go to it's flag holding place, and wait for flag holder to come by and kill it.

And what I mean by "within 15 tee feet of getting the flag", it would not apply if there is a sold in the way.
