I tried adding the favorites as indicated above but I still can't find any servers, hopefully I did it right. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything to no avail, hopefully I'm not missing a simple solution because I'm not good with Ubuntu.

This is a global problem right now, this is not a problem on the client side unfortunately.

Yep, this also happens to me. So apparently 0.7.0 has been released, however there's currently no update for the Steam version or on this page.

I also don't know what's going on, I guess you should just wait for further news regarding this topic. Im sorry for you and your friend, believe me when I say this normally doesn't happen in Teeworlds, I never saw this before (after being active for 7-8 years).

Try to install a VM with another OS. It would be interesting if it really solves
the problem. Just try to install Ubuntu for the VirtualMachine and get install
teeworlds from the Software Center. If it works without problems, you
should take a closer look on your OS.

Maybe i missunderstood something, but you tried this Teeworlds Installer? Because you talked about settings im just asking :3.

So lets think about it:
you tried
  several times to download teeworlds and start it
  to delete the master server config file
  to run as administrator
  to deactivate the firewall & antivir software
  change the maximum requests with the console of teeworlds (br_max_requests 4)
  to check if your ip has been blocked (didnt you?)

and the only things that doesnt fit:
  is that the console gives some strange lines
  you never see even one server in the 'Internet' Tab

Im at the end of every possible solution. Maybe you should ask a developer directly? o_o
( i know that they may be busy, what here is somebody who like to play their work.
