Search for the maps hotrun, coldrun and Bonny in the serverbrowser.

those come the closest but the instakill is still annoying because there doesn't seem to be a single race map without it (I haven't tried bonny yet.)

Do you mean race as in: race against other players with a countdown at the start?
or the mod where you: race to get a personal time. Cos we need a mod called live race where players can race against eachother like car races, sport races. Real races!

Finally some one who under stands!

in the first race mod (which was a hack of capture the flag) every one started at the same time (well you could join after the race started just good luck catching up) and it ended when the first person reached the flag.  a count down option would be good

(wow my account still works)

I started playing teeworlds back when it was called teewars and race was the only mod.

gee those maps were fun

which brings me to my reason for posting. all the current race maps are NOT FUN. they all seem to be puzzles and over uses of the death tile gimmick (I even saw one trying to be a chat room. A CHAT ROOM!). seriously am I alone here? does know one remember to old wide winding tunnel race maps where people fly by faster than any thing else? do people actually like dieing 9999 times just to see the "you win" painted into the back ground at the end of map?

so here's my question are there any race maps made for actually going fast? (don't get me wrong mazes are fun too as long as there is no dummy draging involved. racing should be competitive not team building)

after strip commentary:
Pirate: so how are ye going to get off the ship before it blows up?
Martee: I have a ride
Flying train: Chugga-FWAUP! Chugga-FWAUP! Chugga-FWAUP!
Artee: HI MARTEE! smile

if you want a Martee skin go here http://www.teewars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=452

in that case we will have to act fast before bill gate catches us big_smile

quick go in to your garage and dust off an old pc or mac (Pentium 3 or equivalent should work)

make sure it has a nvidia graphics card

burn a copy of the xubuntu distro to a cd

plug the computer in to your net work and boot it up using the cd

install xubuntu

install the nvidia driver

and then install teewars (use the window$ pc to look up how-tos for any questions you have)

and finally read the final line of this post

(you don't have to take these instructions seriously) ( big_smile big_smile WARNING LOL OVERLOAD big_smile big_smile )

just as the title asks is there any way to play teewars with out the Xwindow system (example using aalib, svgalib, or the framebuffer) wikipdia says there was a thing for quake for playing with ascii characters i think it would be cool to have an equivalent for teewars (at least for the framebuffer if not the text console)

some thoughts

try checking your ping.

what kind of connection do you have?

check your anti-virus software (some times that stuff gets in the way)

use linux big_smile

i am not a mac user but i can say this is the wrong section this goes in the support section

this section is for user generated content that is neither a map nor a graphical modification

any unbalance can be corrected with a good strategy so if you suck at ctf (like i do) quit whining and use your brain to do something about it
options:
1.do what you are doing now (it is why the development forum is here big_smile )
2.see above strategy for thwarting a fleeing flag carrier (using TeamSpeak may help big_smile )
3.mod the game to your liking big_smile
4. practice x infinity smile

matricks closed it because it stopped being useful and productive

there are no plans to add more weapons after the laser but 0.4.0 will be open source so you could mod the game and add your own weapons

14

(10 replies, posted in Development)

the shots are faster than tees

until you use the hook

i'd say a good strategy is to split up have one group grab all the health and armor and the other group chase the flag carrier with pistols (it would only be a matter of time after that)

but thats only for ctf2 there are enough choke points in ctf1 for grenades and shotguns to be effective if you have good timing

any ways this wouldn't be an issue in 0.4.0 because every one will be able to use shootme's server mod and set the projectile speed how they want

thanks big_smile

expect to see more of these every couple of weeks with occasional bursts in frequency

i'm still debating with my self if i should cram them all (note: the one at the top is the only one i've made at the time of this posting)into the top post or sprinkle them through out the thread as you scroll down (in chronological order of course)

16

but that won't stop people from modding the game to make it happen

i made a tee wars sprite comic big_smile
since it is neither skin nor mod i believe it goes here
http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/2275/teecomicintrodb1.png
it will start as just a promo for the steampunk mod but i'll get to making fun of teewars stereotypes eventually (probably after i intro Martee and Mr.Tee)

big_smile big_smile FLYING TRAIN!!! big_smile big_smile

go here if you want an Artee(the guy with the mustache) skin http://www.teewars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=452

after thinking about it i decided that i could be happy if the forum just marked a forum who's first post has been edited(either a couple lines or a picture added or changed) as unread (is there a way to bring up all unread threads?)

19

(12 replies, posted in Development)

there would be rules to prevent abuse such as you could only do it when your the last person to post and then only after at least a week has past since that post if no one has posted during that time you may use the update button

also you would get in just as much trouble as bumping via posting if you used the update button to only bump your thread with no update

other idea: what if the forums had a way to tag the threads

edit: can anyone confirm the 255 character edit bump thingy?

20

(12 replies, posted in Development)

have you ever done that?
plus if it doesn't bump with updates new people will be less likely to find it

perhaps projects like mods should be in a sub forum separate from peoples personal art (assuming mods are more than just a game.png or are being made by more than one person)

GSD wrote:

I know some forum software will bump a post if an edit is sufficiently large enough to warrant it. If you added something like 255 new characters or something, it bumps it.

Personally, I quite like the forums as they are. They're simple, quick, and get the job done.

REALLY!?! yikes did you find this out your self or did it say so some where (i must have never noticed it because I've never made a edit that was 255 characters in size)

22

(12 replies, posted in Development)

heres a situation that is a real sticking point for me

you make a graphics thread that you say you will regularly update with new content but no one ever responds or comments on the content so you can only edit your last post and no knows that you did it leaving the thread a few pages back and hardly ever viewed until final you have to beg for some one to bump you

i propose a update button that would be like edit but will bump the thread as well(edit would still be used for fixing spelling errors and other minor things)it would of course be against the rules to fake an update (there would be a limiter on how often it could be used like once a week)

i made a fan comic but i'm not sure if i should post in "content: graphics", or "content: other" is technically is a gfx, but technically its not a skin or mod.
Where should i put it?

p.s. I'd prefer to put it in "content: other" cause putting it (it will eventually be more than one)in my skin thread would be an organizational nightmare

Either I did not get it or it is off-topic in my opinion.

let me explain
a "landmine" is a bot programed to sit around and swing a hammer and is then spawned in inconvenient locations (such as the bottom of a pit) with the hope of a tee landing on it it also has the advantage of being move able(via hook) and destructable

a "building block" is is just the dummies matricks described spawned in stacked formations (example: pyramid) and through out the battle the structure would be destroyed or the block harvested by players for their own fortifications

if no one comes up with a better idea use andlinux its like wine but in reverse it will let you compile the sources with linux tools on windows
